The local problem

Garbage should not become a wildlife reward.

  • Bears are moving through Kootenay neighbourhoods every spring and fall.
  • Garbage left accessible becomes a repeat food reward, and rewarded bears come back.
  • Improvised straps and lid locks protect the lid, not the cart.
  • Many residents have no garage, shed, or indoor space to store a cart.
  • BearBarrier turns that gap into fixed, locking storage that stays where you put it.

Tipping
An anchored structure cannot be knocked over.
Dragging
The cart stays inside a fixed enclosure.
Access
A locking door replaces an exposed lid.

From photo to installed

How it works

Six steps, no site visit required to get started. Most residential quotes begin with two or three photos.

  1. 01

    Request a quote

Tell us your community, property type, and how many carts you store outside.

  2. 02

    Upload site and cart photos

Two or three photos of the cart and the spot it sits on is all we need to start.

  3. 03

    Receive a fit recommendation

We confirm the right model for your carts, your surface, and your access.

  4. 04

    Approve the proposal

Scope, materials, upgrades, timeline, warranty, and payment schedule in writing.

  5. 05

    Fabrication and installation

Built locally, delivered locally, and anchored in place by our install crew.

  6. 06

    Waste stays secure

Your cart lives in a fixed, locking structure between collection days.

What we will not claim

No invented reviews, no certification badges we have not earned, and no promise that a bear can never get in. Our products are bear-resistant and built to reduce access. When testing exists, we will publish it.

Common questions

Straight answers before you commit

Is a BearBarrier enclosure bearproof?

No, and we will not claim that. BearBarrier units are bear-resistant: they are engineered to reduce access, secure the whole cart, and prevent tipping and dragging. Any claim beyond that would need certified testing behind it, and we will tell you plainly when a product has been tested and when it has not.

My cart already has a lock. Why do I need an enclosure?

A lid lock protects the lid. It does not stop a cart from being tipped, rolled, dragged into the trees, or chewed through at the body. An enclosure protects the entire cart and creates a fixed storage point that stays where you put it.

Will it fit my cart?

We confirm fit before anything is fabricated. Send photos of your cart and the spot it sits on with your quote request and we handle the measuring. Cart dimensions vary between communities, which is why we measured local carts before finalizing our designs.

What does it cost?

A single-cart Home unit is CAD $1,995–$2,995 installed, a two-cart Double is CAD $2,995–$4,495 installed, and a Cabin build runs CAD $3,495–$6,500 installed. Commercial and shared projects are quoted after a site assessment. Site preparation such as a concrete pad is quoted separately because it depends entirely on your ground.

Could I just build one myself?

Some people can. The difference is that BearBarrier is designed as a steel security structure first, with a cedar exterior over it, fabricated to a repeatable spec and anchored by the crew that built it. You also get serviceable replacement parts and a workmanship warranty instead of a weekend and a guess.

What surface can it be installed on?

Concrete, decking, pavers, and compacted gravel all work, and each is anchored differently. If your site needs a pad, deck reinforcement, or a gravel base first, we will tell you during the assessment and quote that work separately rather than hiding it in the price.

Final word

Bears are here. Let's keep them wild.

Secure your garbage, protect your property, and reduce wildlife conflict with a locally built BearBarrier system.
